I Use "Lesser" When I Mean "Less"

Not sure if it is due to the education system, or the books that we read, but now part of Singlish.

Less = Measure of quantity, i.e. "Gandhi has less money than him."
Lesser = Measure of quality, i.e. "He is a lesser man than Gandhi."

Pre-school Teachers Are Paid 63% Of The Average Joe

In 2011, Singapore's median salary was S$2,925 (from the Ministry of Manpower), while pre-school teachers' median pay was S$1,840 (from The Straits Times).

No excuses for irresponsible behaviour, but the logical consequence is less qualified teachers, greater turnover, and abuse cases (Childcare teacher arrested on 7 July 2013, from TODAY Online).
